Dark Purple

To others, you seem a bit dark, mysterious, and moody.
In truth, you are just a very unique person who doesn't care what others think.
And you really enjoy your offbeat interests and friends.
You've decided that life is about living for yourself - simple as that.

The Separation

"So many children have been lost through war, famine, slavery, kidnapping, crime, disease, accidents, suicide, miscarriage or abortion. When a child is gone, the only joy left is the memories and faith that we will see them again, and we will."
-Akine

Check out this incredible child prodigy Akine. Click on some of her paintings and read her comments, it gave me chill bumps. The one about babies especially was moving.

"Right after my eleventh birthday I visualized my self portrait through the view of a canvas and through the eyes of the spirit. I hoped to express the joy of co-creating, and the awe of feeling God's love and wisdom."

To Meet His Maker

Little Hudson died early Tuesday morning. He lived for 6 hours after they took him off of the ventilator. His parents took turns rocking him the entire 6 hours. I simply can not image what they went through and are going through.
Please keep his parents Paige and Alex in your prayers.

Weddings, Weddings

My cousin Linda got engaged Friday night! Her youngest brother is getting married April 14th, and her other brother is getting married July 21st. She has not set a date yet but they are thinking either early June or late August. Very exciting!

2 lbs. 7 oz

A coworker of mine and former classmate came to my cubical yesterday afternoon. His wife is pregnant and he started asking me about when my nephew was born, what happened and how far along was she when she had him. I asked if his wife was okay and she's fine, but very close friends of theirs were on the way to the hospital and were just told by their doctor that they had to take the baby. She was just 26 weeks along. They got one more phone call a couple hours later that the baby was born by cesarean and that the mother was fine. For some reason this family and little baby hit me hard. I remember all of those scary feelings when Aiden came to see us early - and I thought about some other people in my family who know of little baby's that didn't make it. I thought about them all night and when I saw my friend this morning they still had not heard anything more which made them nervous. About mid-morning the heard that Hudson Stock (first and middle name) made it through the night and is stable. He's hooked up to a ventilator but doesn't have any problems other than just being very little. They still don't know quite what happened. These friends were just at their house the night before and she said how good she felt. She had pain and went to the doctor and they found she was dilated to 10 cm - and for whatever reason the doctor said the baby had to come out.
So, I guess I'm asking for prayer. For another little life that came into this world sooner than we would have wanted. I don't know this family - but for some reason this little boy is heavy on my heart.

Ellipticalling

I have bought my first piece of exercise equipment. I liked one at Sears but didn't like the sales people and was able to find the same model, cheaper, with free shippping online - I'm such an online shopping junkie. Let's see if I make it worth the purchase... :)

Control

About 4 months ago at work we did evaluations of ourselves, our boss, and a preselected group of other people. We got our results today which was interested. My favorite bit if feedback was in the comments section where it asks "If this person could improve on anything what would it be?". Someone wrote "Take Charge. Caslon does a good job but if she wants to advance in her career she needs to take control." I read this out loud to a group of us who were sharing our results and my boss was there as well. When I read it I followed it with "If I took any more control of my job I would be fired!" and my boss leans in and says "Yes you would!" We all laughed because the whole thing was funny. Obviously this person doesn't know me very well, and even my boss agrees with me that I have enough control.

WRONG, Try Again!

We got a toy computer for our nephew for Christmas. When we put the batteries in it and he started playing with it we all noticed the strong Chinese accent of the woman speaking on the computer. We also thought it was unusual for a toy, to say "Wrong, try again" when he hit a wrong key. I guess we are used to "sorry, try again" or just "try again". Plus we struggled to understand what some of the letters where that the computer was calling out because of the accent (note this says English Learner at the top of the computer).
Our nephew didn't care... this was grey and looks like everyone else's computer which is why his mom asked us to get this particular one. He thought he was all that having his own lap top just like everyone else.
Plus saying "wrong, try again" became entertaining when said with a chinese accent at the right time....
